April Welcome – Live Well, Travel Well, and Breathe Hatteras Island
Spring cleans and new perspectives.
Spring cleans are in the air. Like an awakening, you can feel it all around you. Open the windows, shake off the dust, and clear out the clutter—both physically and emotionally.
Birds are calling, trees are bursting with pollen (maybe not so great for those with allergies), and the buzz of weed wackers signals the start of another new tourist season on Hatteras Island. The hive of activity is all in readiness for the coming months. You too can step up your game and give those joints a good stretch. As we know, the success of a summer starts here in the spring.
A breath of fresh air can also mean gaining a new perspective. Everyone talks about breathwork. So how do you reset and breathe better?
Suck it all in. Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Now breathe out… pheeeew!
We’re all excellent at holding everything in, taking on more and more, and not fully letting go. It’s no wonder we struggle to breathe and feel overloaded when we’re carrying the world on our shoulders. Stop and simply take a moment to breathe. Remember each inhale and exhale is connected, and the exchange is part of the breath cycle. Out with the old, and in with the new. We need to transfer and replenish our energy.
So what are some good tips for healthy breathing? Breathing is as easy as 1-2-3. And good news, you can already do it! Learning to connect and manage your breath supports your health and benefits your well-being.
- There is an ancient yogic belief that says, ‘We are born with a fixed number of breaths in our lifetime. The slower we breathe, the longer we live.’
Are you ready to take a deep breath? Different breathwork techniques can help you relax, restore balance, gain focus, and boost your energy. They can be used in everyday situations or when you need to take time out and recenter. If you are curious to know more, start with part one of this helpful 1-2-3 Breathwork Guide.
