January Welcome – Live Well, Travel Well, and Breathe Hatteras Island
Wake up your WHY!
Congratulations! We made it to a whole new year!! With wishes of peace and prosperity to all, look back at your past achievements and know you’ve got plenty to celebrate!
Starting a new year, the ideas of hope, setting goals, and new beginnings can be daunting. Instead of resolutions, how about spending this year getting to know yourself and finding out what it is that makes you tick? Spend time doing things you enjoy, and plan on building on your successes. But where to start?
Take a moment to think about your WHY. It’s not easy to get to the bottom of your WHY—and why it matters to you. Take all the time you need. Revel at having a blank page and the power this gives you. If you need help gaining insight, Simon Sinek, the author of Start With Why, suggests asking a friend who knows you well (not family or a partner) why they are your friend and why they like you. Listen to what they have to say. Think about what it is that really drives and motivates you, makes you happy, gives you purpose, or is your passion. Try to put the feeling into words and write down your WHY.
Now make this year all about your WHY, and focus your energies here. As you move through this year, keep this in mind in all that you do. Create simple and realistic goals as they arise. Ensure they align with your WHY. Honoring your purpose will be so much more fulfilling and rewarding. Seek support and community to help you, keep moving, and celebrate all your small wins. Throw out all the old resolutions and see how you roll!
