July Welcome – Live Well, Travel Well, and Breathe Hatteras Island
Friendship circles in the sand
With temperatures rising and vacations underway, it’s easy for all those good intentions and healthy lifestyle choices to fly out the window. But that’s okay. If all you can manage is to do one good thing or make one small change, it will have a ripple effect. Remember, it is progress over perfection!
With the month and the height of summer flying by, it’s easy to put others first and our own needs last when time is limited and there’s so much going on. Make sure to take time out for yourself. Rushing between work, kid’s summer camps, cook-outs, and July 4th celebrations; having missed my ‘Wellness Wednesday’ window, I found myself playing catch-up on turn-around Saturday feeling spent of all energy. Wishing there was a just-for-mom’s camp or a day retreat to escape to, the one thing I know I can do is take a hot minute out and remember to breathe!!
I’m grateful for my circle or friends and visiting family members who come for their annual ‘saltlife’ fix each summer. I have learned to ask for help with the kids so everyone, myself included, can be a happy (summer) camper! And instead of building sandcastles, I draw mandalas in the sand and count my blessings that we live at the beach!
